The DOG - German Ophthalmological Society - is the medical-scientific association for ophthalmology in Germany. It has more than 7,500 members, most of them scientists, doctors and researchers. The aim of the DOG is to support education and scientific progress in ophthalmology and to transfer new findings into the everyday life of clinics and doctors offices.
A total of 5100 participants travelled to the DOG Congress 2019 - a peak value in the 162-year long history of the oldest ophthalmological society in the world. More than 3100 of them were specialists. In addition to the keynote lectures, special highlights were the new session formats "Highlights in Translational Science" and "DOG International Experts Day". The accompanying industrial exhibition took place on a total of 2,500 m² and 115 exhibitors presented their products, technologies and innovations.
At the DOG Congress 2019, visitors had the opportunity to follow a total of 1,200 scientific contributions and participate in 281 sessions of various kinds, including symposia, courses, poster sessions, workshops and more. The keynote lectures were held by internationall attendees - the contribution of the US corneal specialist Prof. Dr. med. Dimitri Azar was eagerly awaited.
