The international Stamp Fair in Essen is the oldest event in this way in the whole world. The event was established in 1976 in Essen and has therefore lots of traditions. One of the tradition is that a famous sportler is invited to the opening, who gives a autograph session. The Fair is an international event, because ⅓ of the speciality retailer, publishers, equipment producers and auction houses are from abroad. Furthermore there is the philatelic platform with lecutres, presentations and discussions. In addtion the philatelic youth create a varied children programme.
