In 2002, the event was held for the first time at the VELTINS Arena and has found a lively and enthusiastic audience there, returning in large numbers every year. Past iterations of the event have welcomed over 50,000 visitors to the stadium and each year over 5 million viewers watch the spectacle online or on TV. An impressive opening ceremony will welcome athletes and visitors alike, and in addition to the sporting spectacle, the organisers will also provide a 14,000m² event area with catering and food stalls.

Participatory activities will transform the visitors into participants. The atmosphere will be Christmassy and with DJs, dance coaches and the appropriate catering, the event will be a celebration.

Of course, the race, the Team Challenge, is and will remain the highlight of the event, but there will also be plenty of atmosphere and enthusiasm around it.
