We run a cooking school and event venue in Cologne and host cooking events for corporate and private groups. For peak periods and larger events, we hire additional service staff.
We typically post job openings on InStaff five to seven days in advance and receive enough applications to make selective hires. The profiles show experience and reviews, and the hourly rates are transparent from the start.
Even last-minute bookings are possible: For one event, we had only one day’s notice. The selection was correspondingly smaller, but we were able to find a suitable candidate.
What’s particularly important to us is that the platform handles everything—registration, insurance, and payroll are completely taken care of. For fluctuating staffing needs, this is a much simpler solution than a traditional staffing agency.

Depending on the assignment, service staff help with drinks service, serving food, clearing tables, guest care, buffet support and simple tasks in the kitchen. At InStaff you can flexibly book experienced waiters as well as bartenders, kitchen helpers or general service staff – by the hour or by the day.
In big cities like Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt or Hamburg we can often provide service staff within a few hours. In mid-sized cities the lead time is usually 8 to 12 hours. For very short-notice assignments or remote locations we recommend sending your request early so that we can provide the right staff.
All service staff go through an application process including an interview, profile creation and verification of previous experience. Many have gastronomy experience, service training, barista skills or event experience. In addition, InStaff checks the IfSG health certificate (German Infection Protection Act instruction) for catering and food-related assignments.
Prices start at 22.17 EUR per hour – depending on location, requirements and role (waiter, bartender, kitchen helper etc.). There are no travel or accommodation costs because we work with local staff. Only the actual working time is invoiced, rounded up to the quarter hour.
You submit a non-binding staff request online with location, working hours and job description. Our team checks the request and sends you a suitable selection of staff. The booking only becomes binding once you select the service staff you want – without minimum booking or subscription.
InStaff takes care of the complete quality and assignment management: the staff receive an assignment briefing, automatic assignment reminders and a debriefing. In case of illness or absence, InStaff provides suitable replacement at short notice and at no extra cost. This is how we make sure your event or gastro assignment runs smoothly.
